There is also a small caseload of people with cognitive disabilities. Staff provides many different supports depending on the need of the residents, including administering medication, helping with activities of daily living, assistance with groceries, help with appointments, and programming. Call or text: 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline: 988.ca/Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. This is normally a heavy topic to talk about—here is your trigger warning.There is hope. There is help.Approximately 12 people die by suicide in Canada each day. That is 12 too many. It’s a tragic reality that many Canadians are struggling with their mental health so much that they think about ending their lives. There are many ways we can change that statistic, such as Life Promotion and Suicide Prevention. Life Promotion includes enhancing good mental health in all areas of our lives - physical, emotional, social, and spiritual. Suicide Prevention supports people who are struggling.Today, we are asking you to do something for your very own Life Promotion. It can be something like enjoying a walk, connecting with a friend or family member, or accessing your favourite healing spaces. In addition, the federal government launched the Suicide Crisis Helpline in Canada (988), making suicide prevention a focal point in their priorities for Canadians. While this support is incredible to have nationwide, we must foster the right conditions in our communities so that our people will no longer require a suicide helpline.
