Renaming Ceremony

On May 24, 2025 the Lovering Program was officially renamed the “wâhkôhtowin Program” at Lovering Place.

Our Indigenous Cultural Coordinator, Alexander Bobb, consulted with Elders to find a fitting name for the Program.

There are many translations and meanings to the name:
Relationships, kinship beyond immediate family, inter-relatedness with the land.
The state of being related to each other – everything is related.
Obligations that flow from the community.
Working together to create a safe space.

We are grateful to the Elders who helped us pick such an appropriate name, and we will use it’s meanings to inspire our work with the resident of the program
